There is some confusion about small business grants and support. Many small (particularly single premises) businesses don’t pay anything due to exemptions but they are still in the system. It’s the rate-able value of your business property – not the amount you pay after discounts and exemptions – that will determine the grant you receive (if any).

We (CDC) received guidance from the government yesterday (23rd March) on how to administer small business grants and we’re expecting to receive the money for grants in early April. CDC has staff going through the business rate list to re-issue bills that have changed and to start contacting eligible businesses about the process.
