Assisting Self-isolated Neighbours

Responding to Coronavirus locally – helping yourself and those around you

It’s a time when looking after yourself, and those around you, has never been more important. We all know of vulnerable and isolated people in our communities and anyone forced to self-isolate is likely to feel isolated.

We should support one another to help make our community resilient. Think about those of your friends, family and neighbours who may need help and let them know you’re available (see #ViralKindness below for an idea). But, do not forget, it is VITAL you observe hygiene precautions, social distancing and keeping those hands washed!

#ViralKindness: Some nice people in Cornwall have come up with a card that you can deliver to anyone who you are concerned about. You can get an A4 (printable) version of the handout available to download here: https://drive.google.com/…/1L_8GoI1zQ572fBZtElFfQZI9vN…/view.

Keep following the official advice from the NHS (https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/) and UK Government (https://www.gov.uk/…/coronavirus-covid-19-uk-government-res…).

Fairford Patient Participation Group (Fairford PPG) are posting updates on Facebook, Nextdoor and the surgery website (https://www.fairfordsurgery.co.uk/) to let you know about the local health response.

Observe hygiene precautions and keep hand-washing!

PS: If you’re self-isolating and worried that nobody knows then contact me (privately) and I can make a note of your details. In my capacity as a councillor I will keep your details confidential unless you ask me to share them with anyone. I’m also liaising with Fairford Town Council to prepare a local register of those self-isolating so that FTC can be part of providing support and assistance as the situation develops.
