I was privileged to spend a lunchtime just before Christmas with the fabulous Edna Dawes Luncheon Club team. Watching their work and spending time chatting and playing party games with their guests was one of the most enjoyable and heart-warming things I’ve seen or done in 2018. They and groups like them are a tribute to the warmth and generosity of spirit shown by the very many volunteers in and around Fairford.

The Edna Dawes Luncheon club is a vital charity in our community and is organised by a group of volunteers known as the League of Friends of Fairford Hospital. The volunteers offer a hot lunch every Monday and Wednesday for the elderly and isolated members of our community. It gives many older adults the opportunity to meet with others or find respite from caring for a spouse. The charity relies on donations and support from the community.
