Residents are being warned to be vigilant of texts they are unsure about, following a rise in bogus scams being reported to Action Fraud and Police Forces nationwide. Numerous Gloucestershire residents have reported that they have received scam text messages where fraudsters are pretending to be companies such as DVLA, Amazon, HMRC, Royal Mail or Banks. You will be asked you to visit a link to provide your personal details. Under no circumstances should you click on the link. Don’t become a victim of fraud and report any suspicious text messages to Action Fraud and your network provider by forwarding them to 7726. If you have provided personal or financial details as a result of a fraudulent message, or lost money because of a scam, you should report it to Action Fraud at https://ift.tt/34ImDAN or by calling 0300 123 2040 as well as contacting your bank.
